Car accident results in injuries
HANFORD - Two Lemoore residents suffered broken bones following a car crash Sunday.
Tyrell Mayfield, 22, was reportedly heading west on Lacey Boulevard in his 2002 Mazda, approaching the 17th Avenue intersection. Meanwhile, Natalia Vaughn, 44, was heading east on Lacey Boulevard in her 2001 BMW, and also approaching the 17th Avenue intersection.
Two vehicles were stopped on Lacey Boulevard, preparing to turn left onto southbound 17th Avenue, as they yielded to Vaughn.
Mayfield got into next lane and reportedly attempted to pass the vehicles and enter the intersection, crashing into the left front of Vaughn's car.
Mayfield fractured his knee, while Vaughn fractured her feet. Both were taken to University Medical Center, Fresno.
Man drives car into canal
HANFORD - A man accidentally drove his car into an irrigation canal Saturday at around 8:45 p.m.
Joshua Bowler, 19, of Fresno, was driving his 2005 Dodge west on Virginia Avenue, approaching the 6th Avenue intersection.
As Bowler came towards the intersection, he realized Virginia Avenue ends and that he was headed towards an irrigation canal, according to authorities.
Although Bowler applied his brake, California Highway Patrol officials said, he was unable to stop, and launched it the canal. He sustained moderate injuries and was airlifted to University Medical Center in Fresno.
