BCRA Midgets return to Kings Speedway

HANFORD -- The midget-car drivers of the Bay Cities Racing Association will make a return visit to Hanford on Saturday night as part of a racing quadruple bill at Kings Speedway.

Justin Grant leads the charge as the BCRA cars make their second of four stops at Kings Speedway in 2007.

Grant, from Ione, owns a 97-point lead over San Carlos driver Floyd Alvis in the series points standings. Fresno's David Prickett is third, followed by Sacramento's Ralph Cortez and UC Davis student Kevin Morris.

Also scheduled to compete is Hanford teen-ager Michael Faccinto, who's coming off a second-place showing in an SCRA sprint car race at Kings Speedway on July 21. The 17-year-old is 13th in BCRA points.

Garrett Hansen of Manhattan Beach won the last BCRA race, which took place July14 in Santa Maria.

The IMCA Modifieds and Stocks will also make an appearance, as will BCRA vintage midgets.

The Modified competition will feature Atwater's Mike Villanueva, who's coming off a strong win at Kings on July 21. Other contenders include local drivers Claudine Contente, Glenn Olson and Jimmy Reeves.

Pit gates will open at 2 p.m. and grandstands at 5 p.m. Ticket prices are $12 for adults, $5 for kids, and $8 for seniors and military personnel with ID.

The BCRA series opened its season at Kings on March 24, with Brian Gard coming up with the victory. The circuit will also appear at the Hanford track on Aug. 25, as well as Sept. 28-29.

Kings Speedway will be dark on Aug. 11 and Aug. 18. The Aug. 25 show will feature SCRA sprints and IMCA Modifieds as well as the BCRA midgets.
