" The difference between industrial hemp and marijuana is like comparing California's state flower, the poppy, with the other variety that's grown in South America to make heroin. But hey, I'm just a college graduate, what do I know? A person would have to be a serious mouth-breather to not be aware of the difference. "

" To Alan G -
Comparing calif poppy to a heroin poppy was a great anaylsis. I've been struggling to years to describe to people that hemp and marijuana are the same plant, but grown for different purposes.
George Washington grew marijuana.
In colonial times in the USA there were periods were it was illegal NOT to grow marijuana, it was such an important industrial product for medicine, paper, ropes, thread lamp oil etc etc etc. A typical sailing war ship of the day took 200 TONS of marijuan (hemp) to run. The war of 1812 was fought over marijuana when Great Britians Russian supple was cut off, the next major souce had been the colonies, so we got attacked.
During WWII farmers in the USA were allowed to grow marijuana for the war effort. Marijuana saved George Bushs Sr life when his bomber was shot down during WWII.
I could go on, but will stop.
Vote for hemp "
