•Choking hazards - Look for warning labels about small parts coming off and being swallowed. If the toy itself can fit inside a toilet paper tube, it's probably too small for children under three.
•Small magnets - If swallowed, they can cause serious injury. Look for them, especially in toy building sets.
•Lead - Check recall notices online at the Consumer Products Safety Commission Web site. Stay away from metal toy jewelry and heavy metal toys.
