LEMOORE-- Mixed Martial Arts fans will have chance to see a show that's being touted as one of the best ever at the Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino. Palace Fighting Championship World Lightweight Champion Poppies Martinez of Lemoore will be put to the test Thursday, Jan. 17, against his stiffest competition to date -- a PFC world lightweight title showdown with Atlanta's Diego Saraiva (9-6-1). Saraiva is an Ultimate Fighting Championship veteran, who's on a 3-fight losing streak.
Martinez (14-3) and Saraiva will headline an 18-bout card.
"I can honestly say I'm looking forward to every single bout on this card,'' Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino Entertainment Director Christian Printup said, "some for different reasons than others. Obviously you look at the tile fights, these are great fights. Martinez vs. Saraiva is an interesting fight, a career defining fight for both guys really."
"All three of our champions are in tough fights, which is the way it should be. Brad Imes vs. Anthony Ruiz really intrigues me. I like the Nate Loughran and Richard Montoya fight a lot. I think a win here for Loughran is huge for his career. But Montoya's a tough dude, former WEC Light Heavyweight Champion, that's going be a war."
The card will rival PFC 4's "Project Complete" in Oct. that featured such fighters as Martinez, UFC veteran Lodune Sincaid and Justin Levens, local favorite Kenny Ento and a historic battle between Olaf Alfonso and Thomas Denny.
"This card is by far the deepest as far as talent from top to bottom. Our matchmakers continue to put together ultra competitive fights and in this one we have many career defining fights for a lot of guys. I'm insanely excited about this card," Printup said.
Other title fights will be on the line at PFC 6's "No Retreat, No Surrender". PFC featherweight titleholder Shawn Bias (12-5) of Oroville will battle Oakdale's Art Arciniega (5-1) and bantamweight champ Shawn Klarcyk (5-1) of Porterville meets Oakdale's Rolando Velasco.
The tickets are priced at $40, $50 and $60 for public sale and can be purchased at
