Dave Hawk’s home facing foreclosure

Dave Hawk may have a new home at the Kings County Jail, but his old place of residence may not stick around for any possible return. A legal notice of foreclosure revealed on Monday that Hawk's 16th Avenue home in Lemoore could soon be sold at public auction to the highest bidder if an unpaid balance of $202,914.40 is not paid by July 2.

Unless action is taken, an auction will be held at 12:30 p.m. at the front entrance to the Kings Government Center's Administration Building.

Hawk is currently being held at the Kings County Jail on a charge of first degree murder with special circumstances of murder for financial gain. His Thursday arrest came after a two-year investigation into the presumed homicide of Hawk's ex-wife, Debbie Hawk.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges hours after his arrest.

The murder accusation is not the first charge to be leveled at the Lemoore man, who is also awaiting a trial in July on 10 felony counts related to tax fraud, embezzlement and perjury.

The reporter can be reached at 583-2425.

" Now is the time for Rev. Brown and Presbyterian Church supporters and any others to step up and save Brother Daves Home. I suggest Rev. Brown open a banking account and disclose each Friday the bank balance until the home loan is paid in full. "

" IF indeed he STOLE from his children, what did he spend the $$ on since it wasn't his mortgage? "

Jazzman wrote on Jun 10, 2008 1:31 PM:

" He has so many charges against him, he's starting to look like my wife's credit card.

Who robs their kids and still can't pay a bill? He's as bad as a crackhead, all stealing from his own kin to pay for his bad choices. "

info wrote on Jun 10, 2008 3:33 PM:

" The answer to wundering..He stopped paying his mortgage when he got caught with his hands in his children's cookie jar. That was a very long time ago. Mortgage companies will start forclosure on a home after 3-4 months past due. It takes almost a year for a forclosure to be put up for auction.
So there is your answer.. "

" The first sentence of this article shows how The Sentinel or this reporter makes light of a bad situation. I don't mean a foreclosed home, I mean all the circumstances. Not too funny. "

Dear Sad wrote on Jun 10, 2008 4:11 PM:

" No, actually what's sad is the fact that the woman who helped design this home, hosted many wonderful parties and holiday events, and watched her children play was murdered and remains missing. NOW THAT'S SAD! Losing a materialistic item can't compare. "

Bobb wrote on Jun 10, 2008 4:33 PM:

" His attorney costs with the continueing charges that keep gettting filed have probably cost him everything. It sure will be sad if he is innocent and loses everthing proveing it. Attorney's are very expensive, just ask the City Council. "

" Dear "SAD"

(Note: That was Joe Johnson's attempt at writing a humorous lead-in to the main story body.

I agree with your comment but I do not want to become known as a Hawk supporter. I am a fair trial supporter, nothing more, nothing less.

Who does suffer - and this is what I draw your attention to - is the oft-forgotten Hawk children.

This is part of their inheritance and would be a sizable chunk of change for their future unless given away by the bank to the highest bidder on July 2nd.

Can't a local attorney represent the kids and slap some injunction on this sale? Give the kids the opportunity to either save the house or sell it at market value to realize a profit for their future and education.

Don't let the kids take the hit, fellow citizens! "

To Alejandro wrote on Jun 10, 2008 6:29 PM:

" Are you nuts? If the kids don't get to inherit a house, and they can't pay for it, oh well. Sad but true. How many kids get pregnant at 14 and will never have anything but what they earn themselves? It's certainly not up to us citizens to make sure other peoples' kids have money. They've been dealt a rotten hand in life for sure. "

Watchdog Fred wrote on Jun 11, 2008 10:23 AM:

" Alejandro,
I like your idea, why shouldn't those children receive something in life besides heartbreak and trajedy. If I had 200k laying around I would buy it and give it to them. Why doesn't the county step in and buy it and resell it, give the kids the protift from the sale. "

New Reader wrote on Jun 12, 2008 10:12 AM:

" Wow, I have just read both articles about Mr. Hawk and his recent troubles. Reverend Brown must have most of the Hawk childrens money. Why else would he go public about private feelings and assumptions? "

JUSTICE wrote on Jun 12, 2008 1:42 PM:

" MAYBE THOSE WHO BASH ANOTHERS RELIGION/FAITH SHOULD TAKE A GOOD HARD LOOK IN THE MIRROR AND REEVALUATE YOURSELF? PEOPLE ARE LOOSING FOCUS OF THINGS, LOTS OF PEOPLE ARE LOOSING CARS,HOMES,ETC, AS WE SPEAK.... I KNOW NOTHING OF THIS CHURCH OR HAWK RELATIONSHIP,ETC BUT IT VERY WELL COULD BE YOUR CHURCH..... SOME OF THE RICHEST CHURCHES HAVE THE POOREST PEOPLE..... THE CHURCH CONGREGATION AS A WHOLE IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY ACTS IF COMMITED BY HAWK. "

Ah DUH wrote on Jun 12, 2008 10:25 PM:

" When you can't pilfer from the kid's accounts anymore---of course your stuff gets repossessed. "

Another Reader wrote on Jun 13, 2008 6:44 AM:

" I don't believe that the church should be so out spoken about this awful situation. David Hawk will have his day in court. I am not a David Hawk supporter by far but I am really tired of hearing about the church supporting him. The Rev. Brown and his church should step back and just stop making comments. This whole thing has alot of people upset. It is a terrible thing that happened to both families no matter how you look at it. Yes alot of people have finanical problems these days and that includes the Hawks. But David has always lived off of his family. His greed has put him in this situation. We don't know what evidence that the police have. I am sure thay have evidence otherwise they would not have made an arrest for murder. Let's just sit back and let the system do it's job. Don't blame the church blame David for whatever he has done to bring these charges against him. And lets do pray for his Children and his parents. My advise to the church should be no comment. "

Cousin John wrote on Jun 13, 2008 11:16 AM:

" Interesting how it's okay for anyone to express a negative opinion about Dave, but if anyone supports him, they come under immediate fire.

Let's not try this man in the media, or by opinion based on emotion. Let the courts carefully and without personal bias examine the EVIDENCE, not supposition and innuendo, then render a fair and just verdict based solely on that evidence.

That's the American way. Not a witch hunt. "

Mr Truth wrote on Jun 17, 2008 2:19 PM:

" C'mon Rev. Brown! You know Daves 'good for ir'! Just pay whats due and keep making the strokes....I mean...YOU DO BELIEVE HE IS A GREAT GUY, DONTCHA?
BTW... So SAD.....I enjoyed the articles lead in.
I wonder if Davey Boy will try to steal his cellmates' soups and snax? I bet he will find a way.....after all....He has shown promise in that area. "

Watchdog Fred wrote on Jun 21, 2008 5:23 PM:

" To those so protective of the Church concept, let me remind you it was Reverend Sandy Brown and the Church Officers who offered up that ridiculous letter of support for there Officer and Parishoner. We didn't provoke that response, our responses are in direct result of that letter. So don't go trouncing us because SB decided to cast an early vote for Dave Hawk with his parishoners. We are not more at fault for this being in the media than that one man Sandy Brown is for his letter writing campaign. What kind of Reverend speaks for his entire Parishoners without their permission? We must assume since they have sat back like little scrubs that they agree with his comments. So if they agree they get the same rhetoric Sandy Brown gets for his participation in an attempt to provide a letter of reference and character evaluation as a man of the cloth at the rest of the Parishoners expense. I think the man should be removed for showing poor judgement and for getting involved in something he knows nothing about. I didn't see him writing to the Editor for Debbie Hawk. "

Ho.Ho.Ho. wrote on Jun 22, 2008 10:34 PM:

" This is so typical of Kings County police. There is no body but they want to blame somebody for Dave Hawks' wife's death, so they come up with other accusations to leave the children without a parent and now without a home to live in. The trust fund Dave Hawks took money from was for the children who would not have a home if their father did not take money out to pay the mortgage. For some reason that is a crime to provide for the children when he apparently could not do so with his income if he even had a job after all the vilification. This is like Scott Peterson whose wife was 7 months pregnant when she went missing. Months later a 9 month fetus and Lacey's body wash ashore. She had to be alive for at least two months and Scott did not have her.But did that matter? No. Just hang the husband who was innocent. An Asst.D.A.who was pregnant and looked like Lacey with a dog with the same name was threatened.Lacey was probably abducted in error. No one in Calif. courts cares about TRUTH and JUSTICE. "

" mention was made that david was surfing gang sites in Fresno, and deleted them. Wasn't Debbies auto found in Fresno? If David is found guilty, perhaps some of his childrens money could be proven to have gone to one of them? We're all speculating here, right?
