" This is wonderful to see, I am glad SGT Avalos got to see his son like this instead of still photos. The technology is here, I have talked to some of the troops vis the computer and webcams. Our organization would like to set up a teleconference for families of deployed troops. If anyone wants to help support the troops (we have some fun events coming up soon) or have a loved one deployed, contact us at 559-587-9358 or ceo@OurHomefrontHeroes.org. "

" Congratulations Sgt. Avalos and family, you have a beautiful wife and beautful new son to come home to. I pray that your service against terrorism will serve to ensure your son does not have to serve in time of war and may take honor in the fact that you stepped up and did so in an all volunteer army. Your service speaks volumes of the heritage you start your son off with, I salute you and your comrades in arms in Iraq. Best wishes for a safe return to your family in August and may God be with you all who are seving our country throughout the world. "

" What a wonderful moment for the family! Very lovely to see. I wish the best for them! Thank you Sgt. Avalos for your personal sacrifices to serve this country. The non-relevant comments by a few others on mixed race families are unwarranted. "

" How the heck did this wonderful story about a fathers first glimpse of his beautiful child while living in a war zone turn into a topic about mixed races? Some people obviously have no class!
To Mr. and Mrs. Avalos and their son, congratulations! Thanks to those who made it possible for you to see each other and your baby.
To those making idiotic comments concerning race mixing, grow the Heck up.... better yet, leave the valley! "

" To Mrs. D.: This is the third try to answer you. I do not believe in homosexual marriages, but partnerships like a business partnership should be available to one adult living in the same household whether same or opposite sex. The reason that is needed is that one woman with children can stay home with the children of both women while the other woman works outside the home with her job providing health insurance and other benefits for a designated "significant other". To have official marriages and divorces for same sex people puts the country in jeopardy of judgment since it is believed the cause of the Flood of Noah was homosexual marriage. God has guidelines for living. The family of a single woman or unwed or divorced mother should provide for her. But brothers and parents fail in that so often and throw the woman to the wolves. So women need to help each other and employers need to help by allowing a "significant other" that is not a spouse who is helping in the household with needful things like taking care of children. "

" dose - are you hitting that bottle again? This article is about a couple who did it right, they got married and had a baby together. He cares enough about his country to fight for it, in my book that's another plus for us fortunates left behind. As I stated perhaps Sgt. Avalos is there so that someday when his son grows up, he won't have to be, did you ever think of that one? No you didn't because you are so anti-war you can't even allow a married couple to view their child together wihtout spouting off about it. Why don't you enlist and take his place in Iraq? "

" This is such a nice thing to read! Congrats on the couple and health and long life for the baby!
I have a question though. Recently my daughter was an inpatient of the hospitalffor unexpected surgery for a couple days and her father is currently in Bahrain and our family is back east. We were able to teleconference with him (and a couple other family members back east at the same time) on a laptop in her room with the hospitals free for patients wireless connection on webcams through yahoo messenger. Didn't involve days of any set up, special rooms, anyone checking connections and no newspaper article. I am wondering what is different and why did this web cam visit need so much preparation and todo in a special conference room and organization? "
