Vigil today for crime victims

HANFORD -- The Carole Sund/Carrington Foundation is holding a vigil in honor of the missing and victims of crime today at 12:30 p.m. at the Kings County Government Center, 1400 W. Lacey Blvd.

The public is invited and encouraged to come out and support the victim community. There will be opening remarks by Scott Webb, foundation executive director, as well as a candle lighting.

The Sund/Carrington Foundation was created in tribute to Carol and Juli Sund and Silvina Pelosso, three women sightseers who went missing and were later found murdered near Yosemite National Park in February 1999. Francis and Carole Carrington, Carole Sund's parents, began the foundation to help post reward money on missing person cases.

To date, the foundation has already assisted in the location of nine missing persons and apprehension of 37 murder suspects, three kidnappers of young children, and one suspect charged with attempted murder of a peace officer.
