Hanford shuts out South Reno in regional

EL SEGUNDO - Gabe Dominguez and Brandon Putnam combined on a three-hit shutout as the Hanford Babe Ruth 15-year-old all-stars defeated South Reno, Nev., 5-0 Saturday in the first round of the Western Regional tournament.
Hanford, the Central State champions, faces SoCal champ Torrance at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
Dominguez pitched six innings, striking out six, walking two and allowing all three South Reno hits. Putnam walked one and struck out two to close the game.
Hanford got an early jump on South Reno, scoring three runs in the first inning and adding single tallies in the second and fourth frames.
Aaron Olivera delivered the big blow for Hanford in the first inning, a two-out, two-RBI single.
Sean Kelly had a double for Hanford and Dalton Kelly a run-scoring single.
