Arrest made in robbery near Mall
By Joe Johnson jjohnson@HanfordSentinel.com
The armed robbery suspect that caused the Hanford Mall to be locked down for more than two hours last fall was arrested by Hanford Police officers on Monday, when forensic evidence collected at the scene of the crime positively identified the robber.
Roger Glynn, 63, of Fresno, is accused of walking up to a female Hanford resident sitting in her car at the Kings Federal Credit Union on West Lacey Boulevard on Nov. 5. He then allegedly pulled out an unidentified firearm and demanded money, fleeing from the scene with the victim's wallet. At the time, he was last spotted heading in the direction of the Hanford Mall.
What followed was a complete lockdown of the mall, as the Hanford PD SWAT team swept the building and escorted customers from the building to search for the missing suspect.
Nearby Hanford West High School also went into lockdown for a three-hour period as a precaution, in case the suspect fled in that direction following his disappearance from the mall area.
However, the man was not located.
When last interviewed about the case, investigators were in the process of reviewing security camera tapes from the credit union parking lot and those at the Hanford Mall to confirm suspicions about the suspect's identity.
It is also unknown how much money was stolen from the victim.
Glynn was booked into the Kings County Jail on suspicion of robbery and possession of a firearm. He is being held in lieu of $150,000 bail.
