Weigh-ins for Tachi fights provide no surprises

LEMOORE -- Everything went according to plan on Wednesday at the Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino. All the fighters made weight for tonight's fights, which are slated to begin at 6 o'clock. Doors will open at the Palace's Bingo Hall at 5:30.

The only slight hiccup was that Puerto Rico's Yahaira Martinez (7-2) was a pound over for her title bout with Watsonville's Carina Moreno (18-1), who holds the WBC/WIBA Women's Mininumweight title.

The fight is still actually a title fight and a loss would strip Moreno of her titles, but the titles would become vacant, because Martinez failed to make the required weight.

Also in championship action, San Francisco's Ana Julaton (4-0-1) battles Dominga Oliva (6-4-1) for the vacant WBC International Women's Super Bantamweight title; and WBC Caribbean Heavyweight champ Wasco's Manuel Quezada (23-4) takes on Louisiana's Andrew Greeley (14-22-2)

Las Vegas standout Dewey Cooper is looking to move up the cruiserweight rankings and will try and do so with a 10-round showdown against Missouri's Galen Brown (30-8).

Visalia's bantamweight Aaron Alafa will be back in action in a 4-round fight against Cambria's Greg McDowell, who is making his pro debut.

In other action:

l Bakersfield welterweight Mike Dallas Jr. (4-0) vs. Missouri's James Helmes (4-6).

l Los Angeles super bantamweight Rico Ramos (5-0) vs. Mexico's Manuel Sarabia (16-26-9).

l New York junior welterweight James Ventry (6-4-1) vs. Houston's Carlos Navarez (4-12-1).

l Madera middleweight Joaquin Marquez (3-0-1) vs. Fresno's Loren Myers (6-2).

And in mixed martial arts action:

l Oroville featherweight Shawn Bias (12-6) vs. Paradise's Marcus Blood (2-3).

l Sacramento featherweight Tito Jones (4-2) vs. Sacramento's Hussain Rassouli (0-0).

l Madera heavyweight Lavar Johnson (7-2) vs. Los Angeles' Sal Farnetti (2-1).

l Visalia heavyweight Rocky Molina (0-2) vs. Oakhurst's James Rodriguez (1-0).
