Shaw aids COS effort
By Sentinel Sports Staff
QUINCY - Hanford West graduate Cody Shaw tied a College of the Sequoias record with three field goals and added five PAT kicks as College of the Sequoias defeated Feather River College 52-42 in its season opener Saturday.
Shaw, a sophomore, scored on field goals of 34, 20 and a career-long of 45 yards for the Giants. The last time COS got three field goals in one game was 2002, when Marcus Martinez pulled it off against Gavilan.
COS pulled ahead for good with 12:35 left in the fourth quarter on a 51-yard pass from Dice deLama to Robert Porby. The Giants used four quarterbacks in outgaining the Golden Eagles 528-222.
The Giants play Foothill College next Saturday at 7 p.m.
