In 2004 Bush barely won the popular vote by 2% and every Republican with a mouth and working vocal cord was telling everyone else how this meant Bush had a mandate to do pretty much whatever he wanted. If 2% is such a miraculous win that it means no one should question the motives or actions of the President than 6% should make Barack Obama the “Chosen One”. "

All I can say; is while Obama was a gleam in his father's eyes. I don't know many things about you such as if you are a lesbian or don't have any children of your own as it's really none of our business, but answer me this:
On your list, number (4) "Initiate health care coverage for all children," from your experience, what do you think are the health care needs of children?
I know plenty of states - specially California - that have health care programs (MediCal, CHIP, Rural Health Services (RHS), CMPS, et al) specially for these needy families and children in the 'community' (code word for the poor & illegal immigrants). And great local programs such as "First Five" also assists this target population. A writer here mentioned but did not identify a local day (Oct. 30) of services and giveaways that also targeted members of that ‘community' and its children (even the ‘homeless' community too).
Are our kids really as needy as we see in third world photos on TV and in the rest of the media, "Deb?" "
Deb wrote on Nov 9, 2008 10:20 AM:
" Alihandro - there was a congressional bill ensuring all children were covered with health care which passed both houses and which Bush vetoed - this is the legislation I, personally, would liked to see passed. It's not a handout.
There was also an analysis done which showed a majority of Americans who receiveed health care through employer could not afford to add children.
I don't recall the link nor any of the information, but I'm sure the info is available online. Certainly you can choose to believe or not. Matters not to me.
I have an adult child who is in her first year teaching and two children at home who are fully covered by their father's health insurance. The insurance company repeatedly refuses to pay for certain services due to the disabilities of one. This applies to all insurers in CA And, if we were forced to obtain health insurance on our own, he'd be denied insurance for pre-existing conditions.
So, alihandro, I have a vested interest. All children should be covered and I'm a 50 y/o caucasian white woman. "

In your opinion, do our children need to be a third world status in order for you to advocate for them?
As stated previously I am a social liberal Alihandro, I do not hide from that title nor am I ashamed of it. The world is also not black and white. Things are not only one way or the other. Life is full of gray areas.
The state of CA has done a great job for insuring kids and it makes me proud to be a citizen at times. But, one policy does not make us great. "

" Fred,
Yes I understand your argument its way too simple not to understand. Your argument is this; because Jimmy Carter lost by a larger landslide that somehow makes it impossible for every other victory to be one – if this was not your argument than what was your point, it would also invalidate Bush’s win in 2004. I prefaced my comment by saying that 6% is small and I do agree that 6% doesn’t give Obama a “Mandate” as the pundits and people are saying it does. This was my point since you couldn’t keep up. When Bush won with a 2% margin and many people (Republicans, I’m sure you were one of them) kept yelling at the top of their lungs that this very small minute 2% win gave him carte blanche status. That would mean a 6% victory would be completely over the top and using your same logic - used when Bush won with a measly 2% - this would be a landslide. I am not sure how you missed this since I pretty much spelled it out in my original comment. In fact I’m betting you still don’t get it. "
