Leaf pick-up starts this week in Hanford and Lemoore
By Sentinel Staff
Get those raked leaves ready. Leaf pick-up season for the cities of Hanford and Lemoore begin this week. Hanford's season program starts on Monday and continues weekly through Jan. 16. Lemoore, meanwhile, institutes its pick-up program Wednesday, and the weekly practice runs until Jan. 23.
Hanford residents are asked to place leaves approximately 20 inches from the curb to allow for drainage into the gutters. No limbs or grass are allowed into the street; those items will not be picked up by street sweepers or the leaf pick-up crews. Pick-up dates remain the same day that the city street sweeper is in residents' area. Every effort will be made to pick up leaves the day before the street sweeper cleans the area.
Lemoore residents are asked to place leaves two feet from the curb, but leave piles no higher than 12 inches. Grass clippings, tree branches, rocks, bark, etc. are not to be mixed in with leaves. Residents are also urged not to park vehicles on the street in the way of picking up leaves.
For more information, Hanford residents can contact the City Street Division at 585-2565 while Lemoore residents can call the City Corporation Yard at 924-6744.
