Opinions are factless
Editor: I find it hard to imagine, even in Hanford, that there is much of an audience for the frenzied attack on President-elect Barack Obama by one of your occasional columnists, Kathryn Lopez.
In a recent column she had the temerity to call him a coward, and now, because he is strong enough and intelligent enough to be his own man in the face of divergent attitudes and opinions of others of his acquaintance (Ayers & Wright) she has the gall to question his "judgment!"
Ms Lopez is an entertainer, and not a very good one. Nothing she does is as serious or as important as becoming president of the United States. From the safety of her anile perch and with a conservative label on her forehead, she decries the "media bias," while shrieking her ideology.
Her opinions in the comics of the op-ed page need have nothing in common with the facts, and so, one hopes that readers can penetrate the spin, the fear and resentment in her columns.
The last eight years have been pretty good to Ms Lopez. No wonder she doesn't fancy a change!
