The Hanford Chapter of the Tulare Kings Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is launching its signature event Friday -- Fiesta Del Pueblo-Las Posadas. The progressve dinner event will take place from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. in downtown Hanford.

Scheduled events begin with registration and no-host bar from 5:30 to 6 p.m. at Irwin Street Inn, followed by soup and salad from 6 to 6:30 p.m. at the Inn. Wine and cheese will be served at Marquez Brothers from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m., followed by dinner and no-host bar at La Fiesta Restaurant fom 7:15 to 8:45 p.m.

Wrapping up the evening's festivities is coffee and dessert back at the Irwin Street Inn from 8:45 to 9:30 p.m. Attendees will be moved along by shuttles provided by event sponsor, Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino. Event corporate sponsor and chapter member Marquez Brothers Inc. will also play a key role in helping to showcase the community's richness and diversity.

While enjoying the downtown tour and delicious cuisine, diners will learn a little about the Mexican Navidad holiday traditions: Las Posadas. Traditional Mexican Mariachi music will be provided while enjoying some of Hanford's finest dining discoveries.

Tickets are priced at $50 per person. For more information on the unique event contact any of the following Executive Board members: Ray Vasquez (816-4138), David Ayala (836-9713), Carol Hernandez (582-7515) or Mike Mendoza (585-3679).

" Hey gang,

What kind of event?

"The (Chamber's) progressve [sic] dinner event..."

Progressive? Not Conservative?

What else would it be? Duh.

P.S.
Wanna bet that the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce conducts its meetings in ENGLISH? "

" Welcome to the wonderful town of Hanford, here I though Marquez Brothers was finally gonna make a down payment on the street we gave them, only to find out they want to charge us $50. a person to come and participate.

I say we send them a bill for the street and have our own party.

What say you Kermit and Alihandero? "

" Is there a point to your comment, Alihandro?

WD: Your continued vitriolic comments toward Marquez Bros is growing old. "

Tell them to give us fifth street back and I'll shut up! Did you get to vote on the city giving away public property and right away. Almost every City Council meeting we are purchasing right of way property but we give that same property away to a bsiness, where is the fairness in that? We couldn't accomodate Serpa and sell him a piece of property he had already made improvements too, but we just in the next month give away a city block to another business. You figure out the tax on automobiles vs cheese and you estimate who brings more tax dollars to this community. When most foods aren't even taxed. Secondly, their automation reduced employees it didn't increase them, so what new jobs were created? No Deb, I think I'll just keep right on complaining about what the City Council and Marquez Brothers did to this community. Who knows some day you might read where they actually pay the city for it? "

Go look at the small space on 7th Street that the city auctioned off recently and then look at the landmass on 5th street and tell me what you think it might have been worth.

How is this for a trade off, have Marquez Brothers pay to refurbish the property the county is giving us at Hwy. 43 and 10th Avenue complete with a new Hanford sign and we will call it even? Also have them continue to pay maintenance fees as long as they use 5th street as well. "

It was the cities responsibilities for years to perform maintenance on that portion of the township of Hanord. Therefore, it was and should remain as the taxpayer's property and should have been considered as an asset of the same. Therefore it was illegally disposed of without the permission of the cities tax payers thereby all involved were misrepresenting the taxpayers best interest of the city of Hanford. If it had no value to the city, then why did Marquez Brotthers deem it valuable enough to seize it and close off the thoroughfare? My rights as a tax peying citizen have been violated through the loss of this right of way and therefore I and the other taxpayers have been damaged by this malfeasance of government in and for the city of Hanford, California. Put that in your pipe and puff on it Transplant. "

Furthermore, how do you know what I know about Serpa we could be best friends you don't know.
Secondly, you ignore my comment about who brings more tax money to Hanford than Serpa. The Cheese plant certainly doesn't it doesn't bring more jobs with its automation and I am aware of that. These are facts you don't dispute so you ignore the major part of the argument and act like you know more than I do, but do you, where are your sources and what do you really know. Have you seen signed contracts in the Serpa Case? What has been the disposition, is Frank Serpa paying the contract, what happened Mr. Transplant no nothing. The City Attorney says it has been resolved but with no explanation, isn't that typical? Perhaps that is the problem Mr. Tansplant perhaps your real name is Dowd? "

Watchdog Fred wrote on Dec 11, 2008 7:11 PM:

" Dang I gotta go I think I double parked my KIA in front of the Cheese Plant again. "

Watchdog Fred wrote on Dec 12, 2008 6:55 AM:

" Unique event, I hardly think so, the only thing unique about it, is it discriminates against all other races in the community for the majority of the year and then wants donations of $50 per person so it can continue to do the same thing for another year. I think you need to look for your fish in some other local, try Fresno. NO FISHING ALLOWED! "
