Budget is out of line
Editor: In your article of April 21, you stated that the KCAO budget for the Head Start program for last year was $5.7 million for 499 children age 5 and younger.
I hope this was not accurate as this would mean over $11,000 a year per child. I can place a child in the best daycare facility for $500 a month. This is only $6,000 per year.
There is also a First 5 program budget used for the same age group of children, as well as AFDC, medical, food stamps, etc.
We need to look at some of these federal programs to see where overlaping is occuring and where taxpayer money is being spent.
