Kings-Tulare hoops opens all-star season
By Sentinel Sports Staff
With students graduating this week, fans will have their final chances to see the best local high school senior athletes before they jump to college or call it a career.
Tonight's Kings County-Tulare County All-Star basketball games marks the first of multiple high school all star games to include high school seniors from around the section.
The East vs. West format at Redwood High will start with the girls at 5 p.m. and boys at 7 p.m.
In the boys game, 11 players from Kings County will be on the West team, coached by Lemoore's T.J. Wilkins.
West Yosemite League Player of the Year Cougar Williams of Hanford is joined by D.J. Maciel and Michael Faccinto from his Bullpups team. Kameron Hoyt, Cheyanne Alcala and T.J. Johnson will represent Lemoore.
From the Central Section Division III championship team at Hanford West, Ethan Carrell and Warren Moon are also on the West squad with Andrew Burke, Joseph Turner and Devin Johnson of Corcoran.
Wilkins is ready to coach players he's had to stress over.
"It's been a ton of fun working with the Hanford and Hanford West guys," he said. "It is a lot less stressful having Cougar, D.J., Michael and Warren on our side and working with them instead of trying to figure out a way to stop them."
Wilkins will also coach Williams, Maciel, Moon, Alcala and Hoyt in the City/County game June 25 at Clovis North.
Two Kings County girls will play for the West team. Hanford's Korin Macias and Hanford West's Coty Head will be on the home team coached by Huskies' Jason Black.
Admission to both games will cost $8 for adults, $6 for students.
