Macias, Head lead West to 78-74 win in girls game
By Sentinel Sports Staff
VISALIA - Hanford High's Korin Macias was co-high scorer with 15 points and Hanford West's Coty Head added 11 points, eight rebounds and two steals as the West All-Stars defeated the East 78-74 in the Kings-Tulare all-star girls basketball game at Redwood High School.
The West squad was coached by Hanford West's Jason Black.
The game was tied at 36 at halftime, with the West, thanks to several key rebounds down the stretch by Head, pulling away in the last six minutes.
"This was a really good experience," said Black. "The players learned, listened during time-outs and executed. Our girls played well."
Macias shared high-scorer honors for the West with Marissa Nelson of El Diamante (Visalia). Alex Shew of Porterville led all scorers with 22 for the East, while Ebone Brown of Tulare Union had 19.
Results of the boys all-star game, which featured Hanford's Cougar Williams, D.J. Maciel and Michael Faccinto; Kameron Hoyt, Cheyanne Alcala and T.J. Johnson of Lemoore; Warren Moon and Ethan Carrell of Hanford West; Andrew Burke, Joseph Turner and Devin Johnson of Corcoran and was coached by T.J. Wilkins of Lemoore, were not available as The Sentinel went to press Saturday night.
