West wins all-star game

VISALIA -- Lemoore's Cheyanne Alcala led an up-tempo attack with 16 points as the West routed the East 112-72 in the Kings-Tulare all-star boys basketball game at Redwood High School Saturday night.
Alcala was one of three Tigers in double figures for coach T.J. Wilkins' squad. Cameron Hoyt added 13 points and T.J. Johnson 11.
"We came out fast," said Wilkins. "The guys really bought into the system. They had fun, and I think the scoring shows that."
Other Kings County athletes in the game and their point totals were Michael Faccinto, 8; D.J. Maciel, 7; Cougar Williams, 10; Warren Moon, 9; Joseph Turner, 8; Andrew Burke, 8; and Devin Johnson, 10.
Ross Rivera led the East with 21 points.
Moon, Williams, Maciel, Hoyt, Alcala, Johnson and Wilkins will be reunited in the annual City-County game June 25 at Clovis North High School.
Local bodybuilder
wins state title
Kelly Rodriguez, a personal trainer at VQ Fitness Gym in Hanford, finished first in the men's novice/middle novice weight class at the recent California State Bodybuilding Competition in Los Angeles.
He was also fourth in the men's open middleweight class out of a field of 150. It was his first competition after two years of training.
He is a native of Pocatello, Idaho, and served three overseas deployments while in the U.S. Navy.
