Trio enters Hanford High HOF

Hanford High School's Quarterback Club inducts three new members into its Hall of Fame on Friday at the Hanford Fraternal Hall. Former players Chris Silveira (Class of 1994) and Bud Gambrill (Class of 1959) are this year's entrants. They will be joined by civic leader and businessman Bob Hill, the recipient of the Walt Parker Award.
The event begins with a social hour at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m., followed by the ceremonies.
There will also be a silent auction, with items up for bid including a game-worn Joe Namath Super Bowl jersey and an autographed Fresno State football helmet.

A quick look at this year's inductees:
Robert "Bob" Hill
Hlll was born in Long Beach in 1938, but spent most of his life in Hanford, serving twice as mayor and also serving on the City Council and the Hanford Joint Union High School Board.
He was city manager in Saratoga, Corcoran and Manteca and was an underwriter for New York Life before becoming owner-operator of Robert's Chevrolet, Oldsmobile and Cadillac from 1973-81. He also owned a classic car dealership in Hanford.
Hill was involved in numerous civic, professional and youth organizations, including serving as president of the Quarterback Club from 1974-80. He was instrumental in the planning and construction of the Little League Complex in 1978, which was just recently renamed "Bob Hill Athletic Youth Complex."
He died last December shortly after attending a Bullpup home playoff game.
Chris Silveira
Silveira is a Hanford native, born in 1975, who played football for three years.
He was named to the all- West Yosemite League and all-NorCal team after being ranked No. 2 in the state in passing with 2,741 yards in 1993, including a 520-yard effort in a 35-14 win over Mt. Whitney (Visalia), marks still listed in the state record book.
Passing records he held or still holds at HHS include: Career passing yards (6,457), season passing yards (2,942), single game passing yards (520), career attempts (772), career completions (420), season attempts (323), career completions (195), career touchdown passes (60), season touchdown passes (28) and game touchdown passes (five).
Silveira also played baseball and basketball during his time at HHS.
He went on to play football for two years at College of the Sequoias (Visalia) and received his bachelor's degree at University of Dubuque, where he played football for two years and was a graduate assistant for two more.
Silveira lives in Visala and is a U.S. history and physical education teacher at Strathmore High School, where he's also the offensive coordinator, quarterback coach and wide receiver coach.
Bud Gambril
Bud Gambril was born in Hanford in 1941 and grew up on a ranch on Houston and 13th Avenues in Armona with his parents and his sister, Shirley. His father was a heavy equipment operator and Gambrill joined his mother and sister in running the ranch when Jess was out of town.
He was one of those athletes who could play any position, but preferred playing defense. He was used mainly as a guard or an end.
After graduation, he played in the East-West game, where he met Tom Flores from Sanger High, who went on to win a Super Bowl while coaching the Raiders.
Gambrill continued his education, where he was a linebacker on the Giants' Valley Conference champions, and at Cal Poly, where he played football for three years.
He coached several teams in the Central Coast area and is credited with building up the Pop Warner program in Nipomo.
Gambril currently lives in Coarsegold with his wife, Connie.
