Autopsy today for Michael Jackson

LOS ANGELES -- Authorities are seeking to clear up the mystery surrounding Michael Jackson's death, including whether prescription drugs could have been a factor.

An autopsy was planned for today, though results weren't likely to be final until toxicology tests could be completed, a process that could take several days and sometimes weeks. However, if a cause can be determined by the autopsy, they will announce the results, said Los Angeles County Coroner Investigator Jerry McKibben.

In a press conference today, Lt. Ed Winter, assistant chief coroner, said the likelihood was slim that the coroner's office would have anything to release today and said results could take 6-8 weeks.

"We're conducting it as we do any other exam," said Winter.

Police said they were investigating, standard procedure in high-profile cases.

Brian Oxman, a former attorney of Jackson's and a family friend, said he was concerned about Jackson's use of painkillers and he warned the singer's family about possible abuse.

"I said one day, we're going to have this experience. And when Anna Nicole Smith passed away, I said we cannot have this kind of thing with Michael Jackson," Oxman said today on NBC's "Today" show. "The result was, I warned everyone, and lo and behold, here we are. I don't know what caused his death. But I feared this day, and here we are."

" If I put a bunch of drugs in my body and I die, it's my fault. What a terrible waste of talent. I don't think I ever saw a greater performer than this guy. "

" When you are full of hate, like hating rich people, and you wish death on anyone, it will "come around". "

B. wrote on Jun 26, 2009 10:14 PM:

" I didn`t hate him for being rich. I could care less about his money. He died 500 million in debt.
I didn`t lke his private life around children. Grown men don`t lay in bed with small children drinking warm milk. But then again I`m not so sure he was a man. "

kitty on the keyboard wrote on Jun 27, 2009 8:16 AM:

SuziQ wrote on Jun 27, 2009 2:19 PM:

" You're right Skip, B did show hate toward the rich when he/she wrote "another rich celebrity". Really shameful! "

" Once again a clear cut message to people that when you have your health, you have everything. All the money in the world could not buy anyone's health. Just like all of Niel and Farah's money couldn't save her life with the Big C.

So if you have good health do all you can to keep it and enjoy it while it is good. "

Watchdog Fred wrote on Jun 27, 2009 4:35 PM:

" As for entertainer's I don't think anyone could top Elvis Presley but then that is my humble opinion. That man could seen rock, country, gospil or anything and truly make it his own. That takes a versatile talent. But he too succumbed to a lifestyle and drugs, which is exactly what I think will be determined about Michael Jackson, when the drug screening comes back from the lab. You don't have a clear health exam in March and then have a permanent full time Cardiologist living with you afterwards. Unless a problem was discovered and a solution rendered. "

" I grew up watching Michael Jackson in his thriller years, that song and video was something I enjoyed watching over and over in just awe of this person. I am not goin to say I was his biggest fan but I would say that I know his songs, enjoyed his music and that is what I am goin to think of. My heart and prayers go out to the Jackson family during this tragic time. "

" I am ashamed at B's comments, but B has shown HATE towards others that were innocent before, Myrtle St.. I believe MJ was a highly talented, charismatic entertainer. I also believe MJ had a horrendous, disturbing childhood that left him unable to cope with life. Fame came too fast and overwhelmed him. As for child molestation, MJ will answer to God, NOT mere mortals. MJ is finally at peace from the demons that tortured his Soul on this planet. Prayers for MJ's family & friends. He was a beloved son, brother, father & friend. God Bless us ALL! "

You avoid the truth, I`ll bet you think O.J. was innocent. "

Deb wrote on Jun 28, 2009 9:11 PM:

" It's comments and attitudes like B's that originated the blocking mechanism found on many message boards and blogs today. It's a shame that the Sentinel isn't able to offer that because I'd live the rest of my life just fine never reading another word from some posters.

B - it matters not what I or others think, OJ was found innocent just as MJ was. It's not for me to judge - just as I try with all my might not to judge you for the person you display on this board. But, go ahead and judge me and the many others you accuse of this or that - I hope it satisfies the need you seek. "

" Deb; be careful what you wish for. there is already talk of the Federal Govt. deciding what talk show content should be. It is very easy to give up the right to free speech but very hard to get it back. Just look at what is happening in Iran now. Who decides what is acceptable, are just persons with the monitors point of view allowed to address an issue? Next we will have the Fed's telling us what we may speak about or protest. As I have said, be very careful what you wish for as it may come back to bite you. FREE kpeople do not agree at all times. "

It was also the same night when Michael Moore was booed for his acceptance speech. It really makes you wonder where peoples priorities are at on the moral scale. "

SuziQ wrote on Jun 29, 2009 2:24 PM:

" Deb, isn't it nice you want to restrict another person's freedom of speech. Well, you are FREE to not read anything you don't want to. I'm sure you believe OJ wasn't guilty of that terrible double-suicide. "

" I actually cried when I heard Michael Jackson died. He was a big part of my teen years. He was thee best entertainer of my generation. In spite of the fact that he was a little strange and his relationships with kids were very questionable, I still remember how awesome he was and how my friends and I would try to dance like him. It's been great watching all his old videos with my 14 and 8 year old. My 8 year old has discovered MJ just exactly the same way I discovered Elvis and The Beatles- the day Elvis died my mother cried and was on the phone with my aunts all day. John Lennons death lead me to discover a whole decade of music that I still enjoy to this day.
No, there is no comparison between Michael Jackson, The Beatles and Elvis. You can love one more than the others but they each were the greatest in their own right. "

But it's OK to spew hatred for George Bush and Dick Cheney.

Welcome to Amerika!

(Some even want to change our national anthem . . . what next, a Michael Jackson National Holiday?) "

Deb wrote on Jun 29, 2009 5:02 PM:

" Bobb - I'm not against, B's freedom to spout off with his/her opinions, as distasteful as they seem to me. It's apparent my posts repulse him/her equally as much. What I suggest offers choice, not limitations. With mass media I have choices - turn the dial, (that ages me) click to a diff channel, pick up diff newspapers or magazines and so on. I grew up on TALK radio - listen to it nightly - not the channel most listen to in this area - but am talk radio nonetheless. The Fairness Doctrine came about because of the lack of choices. I doubt (but heck I could be wrong) that it will be revived. The only place I read about it is in the right wing media and here. "

Bobb wrote on Jun 29, 2009 6:51 PM:

" Alihanero; you may be joking about an MJ National Holiday but my neighbor and I were talking about just that this afternoon while trying to keep cool. Sharpton and Jackson have already arrived on the scene which I have no problem with. But to do a National Holiday would be disgraceful. It would degrade the meaning of the occasion. Before some of you start calling me a racist, which seem to be the norm of some posters, I am in full agreement about Martin Luther King. This man sacrified for the cause to make a wrong, right. "

" Her`s for you Michael Jackson lovers, Wasn`t he just the greatest, a 112 pound drug addict.

Michael Jackson's medical history is starting to unfold in pill form.
Los Angeles County Coroner's officials have confiscated various prescription drugs from the entertainer's rented Holmby Hills mansion, Chief Investigator Craig Harvey told reporters Monday afternoon.
A team from the medical examiner's office, including a photographer and Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter had been spotted going inside around noon.

The investigators emerged from the residence toting two large plastic bags, declining to mention any specifics of what they found or where. "

" To: can’t, we all just get along?

I find it amazing that people fight and argue over some of the simplest things. True no case was ever proven against mj for child molestation, but he didn’t hand out 20 million dollar settlements like candy because of his innocense either.

As an entertainer, he broke many records but if you put all the entertainers together on an equal footing I think his shattered records would be somewhat diminished. For example elvis presley still hold’s the record for the largest selling CHRISTMAS album, something michael never recorded, or showed an interest to do. But if he did does that mean he would have broken all records, not necessarily, it wasn’t his bag. "

The entire (435 plus 6 non-voting members) United States House of Representatives held an official moment of silence for Michael Jackson today.

What is next - a Billy Mays invocational?

Farah DOES deserve one, however...but she doesn't have a caucus to propose it. "

But a frantic phone call she received from Jackson four days before his death made her fear that he somehow obtained Diprivan or another drug to induce sleep, Lee said.
He called and was very frantic and said, `Michael needs to see you right away.' I said, 'What's wrong?' And I could hear Michael in the background ..., 'One side of my body is hot, it's hot, and one side of my body is cold. It's very cold,"' Lee said.

Skip, SuzyQ, mommyme, DEB, & Jeff......Makes you just want to cry doesn`t it? He was such a great normal person. "

" You all should keep in mind that Michael Jackson is not the only celebrity to pass away in recent weeks.

Farah Fawcett, Carl Malden, Ed McMahon, Fred Travelena, Billy Mays, have all passed and I haven't seen the government reacting to their deaths. These people all popular and professional in their vast and varied careers. So you know I have to throw it out there, do these people not matter (because they were not black performers) to all the Jackson Junkies?

It's a sad day when an accused pedophile takes precedence over such successful giving people. I wonder if Ray Charles had passed this week if he too had fallen between the cracks and ignored like all these fine people?

When I see, people like Spike Lee on television agreeing with Al Sharpton that Michael Jackson belongs to them. Michael Jackson belonged to everyone, not only black people were buying his albums. Then people have the nerve to ask where does race come into this, now. All the black people forgive Michael Jackson, for trying to look white. How ironic, forgiveness is so late! "

SuziQ wrote on Jul 1, 2009 4:40 PM:

" One good thing you can see about Jackson is that he never judged or criticized B, but I guess it's hard to criticize someone that's perfect. It's too funny to cry about. "

Although Madonna was also very popular at the same time. M.J. Became just became stranger and stranger, then freakier! When he decided to become white, and then enjoy little boys, that was it for me .Sorry folks, he was not right in his mind. He was a man child.
He is not the king of music, nor can he be compared to Elvis. He is nowhere close to Elvis. Elvis was a great singer as well as a man! M.J. was a total freak of nature. "

saying "I don't think it's necessary for us to have a resolution" said Pelosi, D-Calif."

Now lets see whether the libs will call that a racist Democrat remark.

I won't hold my breath... "

Sounds like we have our principles and priorities misaligned to me. All Michael Jackson gave me was a reason to change the channel when he came on television. "
