Lemoore Police Department officers have arrested a Lemoore man in connection with the armed robbery of a fireworks stand on Tuesday evening.
According to LPD Cmdr. Jeff Laws, officers were dispatched to the Kings Christian Pathfinders fireworks stand Tuesday. The stand is located at 600 N. Lemoore Ave. on the Granary’s parking lot.
Volunteers staffing the stand said a man had approached them to purchase fireworks, but returned to his vehicle to pick up his cash. When he returned to the stand he had a rifle and took fireworks worth $1,000 as well as $1,000 in cash.
The police located a person matching the description given to them by the firework stand’s staffers a few minutes later in the 200 block of east Hanford-Armona Road. Alan O’Bryant, 53, of Lemoore, had the fireworks and about $200 in his possession when arrested. O’Bryant was booked into the Kings County Jail, charged on suspicion of robbery and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Bail was set at $110,000.
Laws said the fireworks were photographed before being returned to the Pathfinders to sale.
The city issued 14 permits for fireworks stands this year. |
