People have no respect
Editor: In response to the letter "Clean up our streets" by James Hatfield, I agree with him. I also live on West Sixth Street. That's not all that's going on down here.
In October, I had a bunk bed for sale in my yard. It was out for over a month and someone came when it was dark and foggy and stole it. I was selling it to make a little bit of money for Christmas, because I don't make that much and I just had a baby. I was very upset. I put a sign out by my mailbox to the person who had stolen it. It said "thanks for taking the bed off of my hands and for ruining my kids' Christmas."
Then a couple of months ago someone stole my husband's shoes off my porch. It disgusts me because you can't leave anything on the porch.
There also has been tagging all along this street on empty houses, garages, Holt Lumber and many more. People drive too fast and the cops only come out here to meet their quota for the month. Like Mr. Hatfield said, someone is going to get hit when they're backing out. People don't slow down for anything, not for an animal or even a human being. What are they going to wait for, a child to get killed? I hope not because that would be horrible.
When you first drive down here, starting from 11th Avenue, you think it's a dangerous street. You first see the back of stores and their garbage around everywhere, then an empty building which was the Dollar Movies with a fence around it. Thanks for putting the fence up because that cracked down on some of the bums hanging around.
Then some of the houses aren't kept up and then at the end of the street is going to be the new hospital. I can't wait for that to come and hopefully it influences people to clean up!
