ACORN is a concern

Editor: This is an open letter to President Obama and Congress:

I am deeply disturbed by the events of the past few weeks and days. The enormous House health care bill in excess of 1,000 pages needs to be completely redone with bi-partisan participation. Listen to the will of the people! They are telling you as representatives we voted for, we don’t like the direction Congress is going with the health care reform.

The ACORN situation also concerns me. The government has entrusted this group with almost $10 million to be used for low income housing. After hearing and seeing the videos of what ACORN employees advising two young people posing as a prostitute and pimp/law student/future politician to do concerning tax evasion, importing young illegals for sex slaves, and supposedly giving them a low interest loan for a house, I want you to stop funding ACORN and commence a thorough investigation. Too much controversy surrounds this organization for anyone to think this is all an aberration. Check into all their past loans for signs of more corruption.

I am concerned about corruption in our government. Charlie Rangel needs to be investigated. I cannot imagine what would happen to me if I “forgot to report almost a million dollars of income.” Should our lawmakers not be held to the same account? And he is on the committee to write tax law.

Please do not send me a general response to this letter. If you cannot take the time to respond directly to my concerns do not count on me or anyone I know to fill out the blank box after your name on the next ballot.

" Those of you out there concerned about ACORN should check to see how your unions and professional organizations are spending your dues. For example, the National Education Association gave ACORN $190,000 in 2008 (the latest year that I could find record of). Everyone belonging to unions and such groups need to start asking questions of their leadership. "

Now that the truth is coming out I think it really requires some further investigation by our law makers and some better regulations to prevent groups like this one from unlawfully impacting elections. Like Obama's ties to terrorists and racist ministers, he seems to avoid any responsibility and is above answering to anything. "

What about all of the illegal voter registrations across the country that helped Obama get elected, Deb?

I find it funny how everyone is so quick to blame Obama, yet Bush did so much worse, and he was never held accountable. Looking into voter fraud? Come on, why not look into the real reason Bush went to Iraq, to finish what his father started and particularly Cheney was on the board of one of the companies that would make the most from war with a hefty govt contract, but that is something different, right? ACORN Sues the Makers Of Pimp And Prostitute Video

BALTIMORE — Community activist group ACORN is suing the makers of a hidden-camera video that showed employees of its Baltimore office giving tax advice to a man posing as a pimp and a woman posing as a prostitute.

The liberal group contends that the audio portion of the video was obtained illegally because Maryland requires two-party consent to create sound recordings.

The two employees seen in the video were fired after it was posted online. The lawsuit says the employees, Tonja Thompson and Shera Williams, suffered "extreme emotional distress."

The multimillion-dollar lawsuit seeks damages from James O'Keefe and Hannah Giles, who played the pimp and prostitute in the videos, and from conservative columnist Andrew Breitbart, who posted the videos on his Web site. "

She shows us, too, that Congress, while quick to judge ACORN, should also go after other beneficiaries of American tax dollars who're legitimately exposed for gross fraud while accepting our tax dollars - yet they're being given the benefit of the doubt, unlike ACORN.

RIght wingers are wolves, hunting down their prey. From October 6 through October 15, CNN ran at least 54 segments mentioning allegations that [ACORN] submitted allegedly false or duplicate voter registration applications this year in a number of states, according to a Media Matters for America search* of the Nexis database. But only one of those segments mentioned both of the following two relevant points: 1) that the statutes of most of those states require third parties registering prospective voters to submit all registration forms they receive; and 2) that actual instances of illegal votes being cast as a result of registration fraud are extremely rare. Indeed, in an October 10 press release, ACORN noted that "in almost every state we are required to turn in ALL completed applications, even the ones we know to be problematic." And in a 2007 report titled "The Truth About Voter Fraud," New York University's Brennan Center for Justice stated, "[W]e are aware of no recent substantiated case in which registration fraud has resulted in fraudulent votes being cast." Of the 54 CNN segments addressing the allegations against ACORN, two mentioned only the former of those two points, while one mentioned just the latter.

During one of those even-year elections, 2006, the New Mexico U.S. Att'y, David Iglesias, as well as eight other U.S Attorneys, was fired for not going after alleged voter fraud cases. His answer was that he could not prosecute because he had insufficient evidence to indict. The other eight had similar stories to tell after they were fired - that they would not cooperate with the Bush White House in this regard. Indeed, Congress is still investigating events surrounding the sudden firings, as is it illegal to politicize the U.S. DOJ. As one might guess, Karl Rove led this effort (and Harriet Miers said as much under oath).

Iglesias is the Navy JAG Officer who became the inspiration for the movie A Few Good Med with Tom Cruise playing him. He's been the most outspoken among the fired attorney's, largely defending ACORN as being unfairly hunted down by GOP operatives. "

Funny thing is that Iglesias is a Republican, though I'm sure his party would disagree, and suggest that he's not a "true" American.

CNN, the networks and, of course the Republican Nat'l Committee Channel (Fox) won't touch it. I'm sure it goes against the party's grain, not to mention their purpose on going after ACORN in the first place - keep minorities from voting. "

" ToldYouSO Palin was over qualified to be Governor, so she put her tail between her legs and quit, and you wanted her to be president? "

My guess manuel is that you personally don't follow the traditional American value of
'putting your family's needs first.' "

" to manuel, how can you say that those who didn't vote for Obama are the ones that made the mistake.

I don't have any problem knowing who won the Presidential election, and I acknowledge President Obama as our commander in chief. But I have items that I do not agree with him about, just like there were things that Bush did that I didn't agree with. So exactly when did I become a racist, during any of the terms of any president that I didn't agree with, or only with Obama since he happens to be 50% black? "

For the first time I must agree with you Manuel, Govenor, President Ronald Reagen forgot more about politics than you will ever learn and how to run this country and make it functional.

He got the wall in Berlin torn down by his alter ego Gorbachev and changed Russia like it had never been changed before. He also was instrumental in nocking Russia out of its number two slot as a World Power and succeeding to China which has become an economical giant in the world. Made in Taiwan has made China famous right along with Wally World and Target and many other large corporations in the United States, not to mention McDonald's, Burger King and all the rest.

Ronald was a healer that Obama claims to be but will never match up to. "

" lihandero I do, that's why I voted for Obama, he is trying to get this country back on it's feet after 8 years of Bush/Cheney who I am sure you voted for,Bush started a needles war with Irag over oil, that has caused thousands of american lives and you have the nerve to put down Obama, it's ok to be a hawk, as long as you sit on the side lines "

" Manuel, my last post got blocked or something, but I didn't vote for Palin to be President rather she was running for VP because she, like Obama, is not qualified to be President. I also didn't really like her being picked as VP either because, like Obama, she simply wasn't experienced enough. However, when facing Obama and Biden, I had to vote Republican no matter who they picked for VP. I was hoping they would pick Rice, but no such luck. A wild card pick would have been Hillary, but that would have been too much drama for all of us. "
