Oust the politicians

Editor: I have read with interest the ongoing trashing of Devin Nunes for his outstanding efforts to wrest our water from the NorCal politicians. Feinstein, Boxer and Cardoza, joined by our own principle-challenged congressman, Costa, have said many times how hard they have been working to get our water back. If true, they should be fired for incompetence; if not, they should be fired for lying.

These four have formed a deadly cabal with George Miller to sabotage the citizens of the Central Valley to benefit a tiny, ubiquitous and fungible fish. (For you Feinstein/Boxer voters, that means there are lots and lots of them and one is pretty much like another).

We are watching the death of the Central Valley, and the Democrats (for whom most farm workers and lawyers vote), are unable or unwilling to do anything. Once again, fire them for either reason.

Devin Nunes has shown his true colors and they are red, white and blue. The "Four" have shown their true colors and they are pink and yellow. One thing is sure, if we depend on the Four, or any one of them, we will be signing a death warrant for our farmland and, consequently, our Valley.

I continue to applaud Nunes and stand squarely behind him in all his efforts. His straight forward words are a breath of fresh air in the center of this outrageous Democrat flatulence. I encourage all voters to give him the help he deserves. Throw out the Four and elect those who actually give a damn about the future of our Valley.

Since the election of Barack Hussein Obama, each time I write a letter to The Sentinel, windows in our house have been broken by rocks and pellet rifles. Our home has been egged, our yard has been trashed and I have received hate letters post-marked in Fresno. It is said that the written word is more powerful than the gun. That may be true, but it doesn't mean we don't need both.

Don Eiland

" While I in no way condone the alleged violence directed at the windows of your home or support in any way the alleged hate-mail delivered by the postal service in letter form from Fresno to your mailbox, I do have a hard time believing that these alleged crimes only commenced with the election of our current president.

Nice try, Don.

(By the way, Don, have you ever heard that old idiom about sowing and reaping? Silly me, of course you have, it's in the Good Book, isn't it?) "

Alihandero wrote on Oct 27, 2009 3:45 PM:

" Yes, there IS an alternative!

Mr. Eiland, you can choose to abandon the United States of America - the greatest country on the face of the Earth - and expatriate yourself and your family to a perpetually 'neutral' foreign country on a far-away continent.

There you will feel free to criticize our county and its citizens without personal fear of recrimination. "

Scott Tucker wrote on Oct 28, 2009 8:38 AM:

" Nice one, Ali. Let's see if the others will "get it". "

The ONE THING that I will bet you and anyone else is that Hanford is a VERY conservative town. Starting with its newspaper.

So I can BET you that if your house is getting egged and shot at, there must be ANOTHER reason that you not telling us about.

You don't mention that you've called the cops. Like fox news, rush is good at making stuff up and then passing it on as “true” so, like suzyq and pete, you want us to believe you and rush. Sorry. Send your story to rush. He’d love it. Like the story about the girl who claimed to have a "B" carved into her cheek.

Especially since all this started in November of last year.

I'm with Scott, "nice try."

"foreign country, far-away continent, expatriate" ahhh, yes. I “get it” and I think it has something to do with the “pompous.” "

" I am trying to see 'the big picture' here and am choosing words carefully so others won't have to use dictionary.com so much.

As Winston Churchill once said:

"Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference."

Don Eiland, you are 100% correct in your commentary, Sir! "

KC Resident wrote on Oct 28, 2009 7:31 PM:

" I also commend Mr. Nunes for having the courage to stand up and just tell the truth. It's so refreshing to have someone say what they mean and mean what they say instead of looking you in the eye and telling you one thing and then doing just the opposite. "

Paul wrote on Oct 28, 2009 10:59 PM:

'the big picture' here" is that I posed a question to Don, and "that makes a big difference " to me and to others if we are to believe Don Ho.

Did he (you) EVER call the cops about the shot up windows, trash in the yard, eggs and hate letters post-marked in Fresno? Those fall under a Terrorist Threat.

Again, send that story to rush, he'd have a field day with it. And he has said before that it doesn't have to be true. It's all about what "they" are thinking.

Sounds like he would benefit from the new hate crime protections bill that just passed.

"Don Eiland, you are 0% correct in your commentary, Sir! "

Right back atcha.' "

Pete wrote on Oct 29, 2009 8:42 AM:

" Well I guess now the libs are free to insult and demean 'letter to the editor' writers and online posters here in the Sentinel.

I made this on-topic opinion statement:

"Don Eiland, you are 0% correct in your commentary, Sir! "

Then, for lack of an effective rejoinder, this is printed:

You called another man "Don Ho?"

"Paul," where are your manners?

You need to apologize to Don Eiland and stop the racially-based diatribe you are so comfortable with! "

kermit the frog wrote on Oct 30, 2009 2:22 PM:

" That's clearly inflammatory embellishment to throw in the bit about Obama's election being tied to your home being vandalized. Do you think he called someone up his first day on the job to bother YOU? I know someone who used to get entrails in his mailbox. You don't have it so bad. But if the vandalism bothers you, perhaps keep your inflammatory opinions to yourself. "

" Don, too bad you haven't called the cops to see who is doing all the damage to your home " is more of what you should have said.

So peet, the threat "COULD" be coming from Fresno and not his neighbor.

AGAIN, if he was to call the cops, I'm sure they would find out where all his troubles are coming from. Maybe you can call for him?

But I betcha' all those troubles are coming from the fantasies in his republican mind.

Funny how he hasn't said a word since the article.

That is what happens to "some" when they "listen" to what others proclaim as the truth and no one asks the obvious questions.

Oh, don. This is America and the people that are voted into office can only be "removed" from office when they are voted out, not fired. The name is don, not donald. "

Alihandero wrote on Oct 31, 2009 4:37 PM:

" I guess "Paul" can comfortably call another man a "Ho" simply because he admitted he is a person of color.

THATS not insulting OR racist, is it now? "

"Racially-based diatribe." I was referring to Don Ho the singer. This is TOOOOOOOO funny ali.

"Singer, entertainer. Born Donald Tai Loy Ho on August 13, 1930, in Honolulu, Hawaii. For more than four decades, Don Ho was one of Hawaii's biggest entertainers."

I will apologize to Don Ho for using his name but I think he wouldn't mind.

But until Don Eiland answers a simple question, "Has he called the cops to investigate the "terrorist threats" against him, I WON'T BELIEVE HIM."

And by some of the comments that have been made, others don't believe him either. So, I'm not alone.

"Some" now are going to have to use their dictionaries or scratch their heads. "

Oh, sure, everyone here gets that incisive comparison of Mr. Eiland to a dead Hawaiian singer..."Tiny Bubbles" and all that.

"I will apologize to Don Ho for using his name but I think he wouldn't mind."

Yes, because he's not actually alive FYI.

As Scott Tucker says in his post above:

"Nice try." "

" I'll try again since it looks like censorship is alive and well. I'm getting very tired of special interest laws being passed that only protect niche perverted or immoral sectors of society. Why don't liberals try to actually enforce the laws on the books and protect peoples rights instead of babying the criminals and hating anyone having an intelligent opinion. Just like the pathetic efforts of dems taking signs off people's yards on last year's amendment against gay marriage. Dems and Libs claim to support rights but lie as much as Obama. "

Paul wrote on Nov 5, 2009 10:31 PM:

" SMACK (sound of open palm hitting forehead).

The key word is the word "was."

"Some" argue about the smallest things.

"well. I'm getting very tired of special interest laws being passed."

Like I have said to "some" here before, IF YOU feel that strongly about something, run for office and "CHANGE" it. Go and stand watch on the border to stop crossings. Go help the war (s) cause by signing up to fight in Iraq or Afgan.

Nah, what for? I'll just stay here and call people stupid, perverted, immoral, liberals, and criminals. And be happy and BLAME it all on President Obama.

"Dems and Libs claim to support rights." What rights are you writing abot? Could you enlighten me?

Why run for office and end up losing like Hoffman in the 23rd district in NY, who showed how really intelligent he "WAS."

Has anyone heard from don?

I'm worried they finally "got him." "

Alihandero wrote on Nov 6, 2009 3:21 PM:

" Well "Paul,"

Once again your ramblings serve no purpose on this particular topic or seemingly any other.

What issues exactly are you defending or promoting for the good of this country, OUR country?

Your last definitive personal disclosure, as I recall, is that you stated you are 'a person of color.' Also you said you served in the military either by draft or by personal choice.

I would like to hear your productive opinions for a change if you have any to offer.

Thanks for considering this request, "Paul. "

ToldYouSo wrote on Nov 6, 2009 3:26 PM:

" ToldYouSo wrote on Nov 6, 2009 3:26 PM:

And does that mean that republicans and conservatives don't lie???

Please, ALL politicians stretch the truth to fit whatever they want ONE to believe.

That is why it's important to listen to all sides of a story and not just from ONE SOURCE the way many here say they do.

So, if you want to use only one source to make you believe that only, " Dems and Libs" have the market on perverted or immoral sectors of society,

I betcha' Ensign, Stafford, Jim Bakker, Jimmy Swaggart who are republican, conservative or religious leaders who feed the republican and conservative base, who as WE ALL KNOW are not "perverted or immoral," will take issue with your claim. "

not so fast wrote on Nov 10, 2009 12:47 AM:

" Well, back to the point at hand, and away from the personal quibbling in this thread.

I agree that Devin Nunes has shown his true colors i this entire mess...and it ain't quite as rosy as Don would have us believe.

No one has questioned the practice of the large farming entities of selling their water to southern california for a higher price. A practice continuing this summer, while these same large farming entities fallow fields.

Nor have they questioned the fact that the pumps have run this summer as much as they have in past summers. These items don't get the loud screams the other inflammatory stories get.

And for Devin Nunes to equate environmentalists with communists as he has done repeatedly is an insult to everyone who is concerned about the environment.

The only quality I think Devin Nunes has shown is his insistence on the spotlight...not trying to solve this problem. "

ToldYouSo wrote on Nov 10, 2009 10:04 PM:

" Paul I was just answering your question about the rights Dems claim to protect and commenting about the historic and well proven voting records of liberals supporting supporting soft punishment for crimes, supporting deviate behavior like gay marriage and all these pro-gay efforts, supporting drug use, and basically supporting anything you probably should be doing. At least you have finally lumped Obama into the statement that all politicians lie to suit their needs. Damn, I think we finally agree. "
