Everybody's happy.
That seems to be the word from Kings County's volleyball and water polo coaches after playoff brackets were announced Friday by the Central Section on its Web site.
As expected, Hanford's boys water polo team, after wrapping up an undefeated West Yosemite League season on Thursday, is the top seed in Division II and draws a first-round bye. The 'Pups will face the winner of Tuesday's Edison at Fresno game.
"We'll wait to see what happens between Fresno and Edison and start focusing our practices," said Hanford coach Vince Roeber.
Hanford West, last year's Division III boys water polo champion, is the No. 2 seed this year, trailing only Clovis North.
"We had a couple of losses late in the season, so we kind of expected to be seeded where we are," said Hanford West coach Rick Conway. "We're very pleased with our seed and we're looking forward to the playoffs."
The Huskies host Exeter in the first round Tuesday. Where the game will be played had yet to be determined Friday night.
Lemoore's volleyball team, the WYL co-champs, is the No. 4 seed in Division II and drew North (Bakersfield) in a first-round game Tuesday at 7 p.m.
El Diamante and Lemoore shared the WYL title, but the Miners got the No. 3 seed.
"After our loss to El Diamante, we figured we had to be fourth, since they wouldn't put us ahead of them," said Lemoore coach Kim Rix.
Frontier and Garces, both from Bakersfield, were seeded No. 1 and 2, respectively, and got first-round byes.
The Section Web site also delivered good news for Hanford and Hanford West's girls water polo teams as well as the volleyball teams at Riverdale and Kings Christian.
Hanford's girls got the No. 5 seed in Division III and will play No. 4 Tulare Union on Tuesday at Tulare Western.
Hanford West, meanwhile, is the No. 6 seed and plays No. 3 Garces on Tuesday at the McMurtrey Aquatics Center in Bakersfield.
"This should be a good game. We played them earlier in the year and I believe we lost only 5-2," said Hanford West coach Rhonda Smith. "This is the team they're going to see next year, since we don't have any seniors out there."
Riverdale is the No. 14 seed in Division IV and heads north to meet No. 3 Chowchilla on Tuesday.
Kings Christian, meanwhile, was the No. 3 seed in the three-team Division V bracket and plays at Fresno Christian on Tuesday.
The winner get a trip to San Luis Obispo on Thursday to play Mission Prep for the Section title.
