Start times and locations for today's Central Section boys water polo playoffs have been announced by the Section office.

In Division III, Hanford West plays for its second straight Section title at 4 p.m. at Clovis North. Clovis North, which beat Mt. Whitney 8-6 on Thursday to advance to the title game, is the No. 1 seed, Hanford West is No. 2.

In Division II, Hanford plays its semifinal match against San Joaquin Memorial at noon at Dinuba High School.

State juco women's golf

championships at Kings CC

The top community college golfers in the state will descend upon Kings Country Club Monday and Tuesday for the state women's championships, hosted by West Hills College Lemoore.

Play begins at 10 a.m. Monday and 8 a.m. Tuesday, said WHCL coach Dave Neer. Admission is free.

The field is limited the two top teams and 12 top individuals in the northern and southern regions.

"Kings will probably be one of the toughest courses they'll face all year, north and south," Neer said.

Among the individual qualifiers in WHCL freshman Kelsey Alcala.

The Hanford High grad was among the leading scorers in Central Valley Conference play and finished sixth at the NorCal regional held earlier this week at the Butte Creek Country Club in Chico.

After an 86 on Monday, Alcala shot what Neer called one of her finest rounds to date with an 80 on the second round, moving from 10th place to sixth to earn medalist status.

Lynne Cowan of Sierra (Rocklin) won the NorCal title with a 73-78-151. Christina Thissen of WHCL was last year's NorCal champ and finished sixth at the state tourney.

Sacramento City College won the NorCal team title and will be joined by Canada (Redwood City) in representing the north.

Beth Sellers from Palomar (San Marcos) won the SoCal title. The Comets will be joined at Kings by Bakersfield College.

Hanford frosh beat Lemoore

Ricky Mora had eight carries for 72 yards and two touchdowns as Hanford High's freshman football team capped an undefeated season by beating Lemoore 22-8 Thursday night at the Neighbor Bowl.

Lemoore ends the year with a 9-1 mark.

Victor Bonilla had Hanford's other touchdown, on an 18-yard run.
