Local Glance: Krausse, BC lead state women’s community college golf tourney

Bakersfield College's Ellen Krausse shot a three-over 76 to take the lead after the first round of the California Community College women's state golf championships Monday at Kings Country Club.

Krausse was one shot ahead of Nicole Rivera of Irvine Valley, Linda Edelstein of Saddleback (Mission Viejo) and Lynne Cowan of Sierra (Rocklin).

Kelsey Alcala of West Hills College Lemoore, host school for the event, was tied for 18th after an opening-round 87.

Bakersfield also tops the team competition with a total score of 427, 12 strokes ahead of Palomar (San Marcos) at 435.

The final round was scheduled to begin this morning at 8, with an awards ceremony at 2:30 p.m. at the country club.
87 for Billingsley at SoCals

MURIETTA - Lemoore High's Hilliary Billingsley shot an 87, which left her somewhere in the middle of the pack acoording to coach Sandy Brown, at Monday's CIF Southern California regional golf tournament at the SCGA Course.

Devon Brown of Cathedral Catholic (San Diego) was the overall winner with 68, one stroke ahead of Kaitlin Park of Beckman (Tustin) and Hana Lee of Wilson (Hacienda Heights).
