Hanford’s leaf pick up program under way
HANFORD — On Monday Hanford began its annual leaf pickup program, which will continue weekly through January.
For city crews to properly pick up leaves, it is recommended that the leaves be raked into piles at the curb and not near parked vehicles.
Leaves should be placed approximately 20 inches away from the curb to allow for drainage in gutters.
Residents are asked not to place tree limbs or grass in the street. These items will not be picked up by city street sweepers or leaf pickup crews. Residents’ leaf pickup date is the same day that the city street sweeper is scheduled in their area.
Every effort will be made to pick up leaves the day before the street sweeper cleans the area. Leaves can also be placed in recycle containers (green can) and picked up on regularly scheduled collection days.
For more information on pickup days on your block, contact the city street division at 585-2565 or 585-2566.
