Hanford West cheerleader found dead; details unknown
A Hanford West High School cheerleader was found dead in her bed today by her parents who went into her room this morning to wake her for school.
It is not clear what killed the 16-year-old girl, who was discovered without any obvious signs of foul play. An autopsy is scheduled for Friday and the Hanford Police Department is investigating the matter.
“Anytime there is an unexpected death with a child of that age, it concerns us,” police Capt. Parker Sever said. “We are looking into it.”
Police would not release the name of the victim on this afternoon, and may continue to withhold it until the examination.
Initial inquiries are already under way by police, but Sever said it is “too soon” to release any information about the case.
