Rules for the Messy Garage Contest

1) The Sentinel Messy Garage Contest begins May 4, 2008, and ends May 28, 2008.

2) No purchase or consideration is necessary to enter. Entry forms will be available online at www.HanfordSentinel.com from May 4 through May 16, 2008. Entry forms may also be picked up at The Sentinel office at 300 W. 6th Street, Hanford, CA.

3) The contest is open to all legal residents of the United States. Entrants must be at least 18 years of age as of May 4, 2008. Employees of Lee Enterprises dba The Sentinel, their parent or sister companies or any immediate family members are ineligible.

4) Three finalists will be chosen by Sentinel staff on Monday, May 19, 2008. The public will vote on the finalists at www.HanfordSentinel.com to determine the winner. Voting will occur Wednesday, May 21 through Monday, May 26, 2008. The winner will be announced on Wednesday, May 28, 2008 in The Sentinel and at www.HanfordSentinel.com.

5) No substitutions or transfers of a prize by a winner are permitted.

6) A winner assumes all risks and agrees that Lee Enterprises dba The Sentinel and their affiliates, subsidiaries, agencies and employees have no liability in connection with the acceptance or use of the prize. A winner shall be solely responsible for all federal, state and local income and other taxes associated with the prize and for any insurance related to the use of any prize. This contest is void where prohibited by law. Federal, state and local laws and regulations apply.

7) To enter the contest, complete the entry form online at www.HanfordSentinel.com. Only one (1) entry per household is permitted. Only one (1) entry will be accepted per envelope. Do not include checks, forms or letters with entry. Only original entry forms will be accepted. No copies or facsimiles of entry forms are permitted. Entry forms may be mailed to: Messy Garage Contest, The Sentinel, P.O. Box 9, Hanford, CA 93232. Lee Enterprises is not responsible for undelivered or delayed mail.

8) Finalists and the final winner will be notified by telephone. Photos of finalist’s garages will be taken on Monday, May 19 and Tuesday, May 20 by Sentinel staff. Prize must be claimed in person at The Sentinel, 300 W. 6th Street, Hanford, CA.

9) By acceptance of any prize, a winner consents to the use of his or her name, picture and/or likeness for purposes of advertising or trade, without further compensations, unless prohibited by law.

10) Decisions of the judges are final in all matters pertaining to The Sentinel Messy Garage Contest. Judges reserve the right to withdraw the Contest or make changes at any time. Lee Enterprises in its sole discretion shall name any and all judges.

11) As a condition to eligibility for any prize, a winner shall execute and return an affidavit and release by which he or she represents and covenants (a) that he or she has read and understood these Rules; (b) that he or she is bound by all of the provisions of these Rules; (c) that he or she will be solely responsible for all federal, state and local income and other taxes associated with the prize and for any insurance related to the use of the prize; and (d) that he or she will indemnify and hold harmless, Lee Enterprises dba The Sentinel and any other prize sponsors, and their affiliates, subsidiaries, agencies and employees, from and against any liability (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) incurred by any of them as a result of or arising out of any breach of the foregoing representations or covenants. Grand prize winners are required to complete a W9 form.

12) By submitting an entry form to The Sentinel Messy Garage Contest, an entrant acknowledges his or her agreement to the above rules and restrictions and gives permission to use entrant’s name, address, phone number and e-mail for marketing and promotional purposes by Lee Enterprises dba The Sentinel and The Sentinel.
